Student Directions for CHARACTERplus Essay Contest The contest has ended for 2008. Choose a character trait that you think is important: respect, responsibility, self-control, kindness, patience, honesty, trustworthiness, politeness, reliability, generosity, fairness, cooperation. Write 5 paragraphs following the directions below: · Paragraph 1-Give your own definition of that trait. What does it mean? · Paragraph 2-Tell how a student would show that character trait at school. · Paragraph 3-Tell how a student would show that character trait at home. · Paragraph 4-Tell how a parent or teacher would show that character trait to you. OR describe a person that you think especially shows that trait. · Paragraph 5-Tell why you think this trait is important in every day life. General directions: Your essay must be typed or written
neatly. Each teacher who participates will choose the winning essay from her/his room. Among the teachers of that grade level at that school, one essay will be chosen per grade level per school. The building, grade level winning essays must be given to the building CHARACTERplus representative by February 15. The essays submitted by building will be evaluated anonymously by a community committee. One winner per grade level per school district will be invited (with his parents or principal) to read his essay at the Rotary Club luncheon on May 5 and the winning essays will be printed in the local newspapers and posted on the school district website.
